UK ONS: We’ve avoided a repeat of last Spring

This is great news! April & May 2020 were awful in the UK but we could so easily have repeated or even exceeded that loss of life this winter.

We have confirmation that our excess mortalities are dying “of” Covid-19.

2020: Largest yearly increase in deaths since when?

Relative to population, deaths in 2020 were the highest since 2003. However, medical science has made one or two advances in the last 17 years! As you can see, the trend has been very much downwards and the jump in mortality from 2019 is quite horrible.
